We are recruiting for an Engineering leader to direct the technical management of a fleet of vessels. Ideally you will have sailed as a Chief Engineer on dry bulk vessels and have five years of shoreside technical management experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Manage activities of the ocean going fleet
- Responsible for fleet CAPEX and OPEX including dry dock periods
- Oversee day to day operations and activities communicating with internal and external parties
- Reviews ship’s maintenance records and recommends improvements in maintenance cycles
- Provide leadership role for internal and external relationships
- Provide oversight of technical superintendents to support vessel operations
- Oversees vessel’s procurement activities
- Oversees all HSE and regulatory matters regarding vessel operations
- Periodically evaluates personnel and works collaboratively with third party managers regarding crew
- Represent the company at industry, government and community events
- Perform shipboard visits in support of operations and fleet management
- Participates in planning technical budgets, capital improvement programs, dry-dock operations
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
- University Degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture or related field
- Chief Engineer’s License, Unlimited Horsepower – dry bulk sailing preferred
- Prior fleet management experience
- Experience planning and managing dry dock periods
- Experience with dry docks in China and Turkey is a plus
- Experience with Bulk Carriers – self-unloaders – is a plus
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- 5+ years shoreside experience involving technical management
- Experience liaising with Class Societies and regulatory bodies
- Able to legally work in the USA.
