General Manager – Cruise Port
The General Manager will be responsible for managing all port/terminal operations. The manager will develop new opportunities and capabilities to ensure safe and efficient operations by working closely with key clients and leaders.
Key Competencies required:
- The ability to develop business for the port and market the destination in a senior capacity.
- A strong, proven leader who can drive change and challenge all port and cruise operations. Current and comprehensive knowledge of maritime regulations.
- Proven industry knowledge with the ability to build personal networks that aid in the ongoing development of services and standards.
- A visionary who can see ahead clearly and accurately anticipate future consequences and trends.
- A highly skilled communicator with sound business acumen who is comfortable and confident in challenging and tough scenarios.
Responsibilities:
- The primary point of contact at the port and interfaces with management and local officials related to all facets of the operation.
- Ensures the business development of the port and develops and markets the port destination.
- Oversees development of policies and procedures throughout the port and terminal operations.
- Manage operating results to ensure budgeted goals are achieved and expenses are controlled. This will include monitoring safety, efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Establishes annual revenue, capital, and cost budgets and will hold profit and loss responsibility.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with the customer base and be involved in sales, marketing, and business operations.
- Serve as an active community representative and collaborate with port authorities, tenants, vendors, associations, and community engagement.
- Senior-level experience in leading a port terminal or leading a cruise line operation
- The ability to provide subject matter expertise, counsel, and effectively influence others at various organizational levels.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply change management concepts, principles, and practices
- Bi-lingual executive with fluency in English and Spanish
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal/external business partners.
