Manager- HSE
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive HSE Manager to lead all health, safety, and environmental initiatives at their fuel testing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective HSE policies and procedures to ensure a safe, compliant, and sustainable working environment. This role requires deep knowledge of hazardous materials handling, laboratory operations, and regulatory compliance within the fuel and energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive HSE policies and procedures tailored to fuel testing and handling operations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HSE regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations; recommend and follow up on corrective actions.
- Oversee hazardous material handling, storage, and disposal protocols to prevent accidents and environmental contamination.
- Manage emergency response plans and coordinate regular drills with staff.
- Lead incident/accident reporting and root cause analysis; maintain records in line with legal and company standards.
- Provide HSE training and onboarding for all employees and contractors.
- Work closely with lab managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure safe practices are followed in fuel analysis and testing procedures.
- Interface with regulatory bodies, external auditors, and stakeholders as needed.
- Promote a strong safety culture through communication, coaching, and leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field, relevant experience with no degree considered
- Minimum 5-7 years of HSE management experience, preferably in chemical, petroleum, or laboratory environments.
- Strong understanding of fuel testing procedures, chemical safety, and hazardous materials protocols.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH, or similar HSE certification preferred.
- Experience with ISO management systems (14001, 45001).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and lead teams toward a culture of safety and compliance.
