Position Overview for the Maritime Development Manager:

We are partnering with the Connecticut Port Authority(CPA), https://ctportauthority.com/, and seek a Maritime Development Manager to lead efforts in enhancing marine infrastructure and driving economic development for the State’s deepwater ports and small harbors. The successful candidate will work closely with local authorities, state agencies, federal bodies, and private entities to strategically position and prepare the State’s marine assets to capitalize on and maximize economic opportunities.

Key Responsibilities for the Maritime Development Manager:

  • Collaborate with local authorities, state agencies, and federal bodies to develop and implement strategies for enhancing marine infrastructure and economic development.
  • Work with local authorities to conduct comprehensive assessments of existing marine facilities, identifying areas for improvement and expansion to meet current and future demands.
  • Develop relationships with private entities to identify potential partnerships and investment opportunities.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies to navigate permitting processes and ensure environmental and maritime regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with local communities to ensure maritime development projects align with community needs and priorities, fostering positive relationships and addressing concerns.
  • Prepare and administer grant documents, coordinating efforts to prepare and respond to requests for proposals.
  • Monitor, track, and report on projects funded through the CPA
  • Research and analyze market trends, economic forecasts, and industry developments to identify emerging opportunities and risks within the maritime sector.
  • Advocate for state interests in regional and national forums, representing the State’s marine sector and promoting collaboration with other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and presentations to stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and community groups, to communicate progress and solicit support for initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in maritime technology, industry best practices, and funding opportunities to continuously improve the State’s marine infrastructure and economic competitiveness.

Qualifications for the Maritime Development Manager:

  • At least five years of experience in maritime development or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in maritime studies, business administration, economics, urban planning, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Army Corps of Engineers and Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) projects and regulatory compliance practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of maritime industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to think strategically, analyze complex issues, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
