Senior Technical Superintendent- Marine Electronic Engine Exp

Our client, a reputable shipping and maritime company located in the heart of Athens, Greece, is seeking a Senior Technical Superintendent to join their team. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical management of a fleet of vessels, ensuring their optimal performance and compliance with international maritime regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Maintenance & Management: Oversee the day-to-day technical operations of assigned vessels, including preventative maintenance, repairs, and refits to ensure continuous, efficient service.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure vessels adhere to all relevant international regulations, class requirements, and company safety standards. Coordinate all documentation and approvals with flag administrations and classification societies.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Prepare and manage technical budgets, including forecasting costs for maintenance, spares, and dry-docking. Implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
  • Dry-Docking & Repair Management: Plan, coordinate, and supervise dry-docking and repair projects, ensuring timely completion within allocated budgets and to the highest safety standards.
  • Vendor & Contractor Relations: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with external contractors, service providers, and suppliers. Negotiate contracts and monitor performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior superintendents and onboard engineers. Foster a collaborative, results-driven team culture.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental: Champion health, safety, and environmental policies. Promote a proactive safety culture, conduct regular inspections, and implement corrective action plans.
  • Technical Advisory & Innovation: Advise management on new technologies, industry best practices, and improvements to vessel operations. Oversee the implementation of innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering. A Chief Engineer’s license is strongly preferred.
  • 6+ years experience as a technical superintendent
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership capabilities, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with crew, vendors, and senior management.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, analyze data, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Language & IT Skills: Proficiency in both written and spoken English. Familiarity with maritime software and MS Office Suite is essential.
