Full Time Shipyard Environmental, Health & Safety Assistant Manager (EHS)
Job Description:
- Evaluate Shipyard Operations to identify hazards and establish appropriate controls that can encompass occupational safety and health hazards related to the Facility and Ship Repair work.
- Coordinate with personnel to secure compliance with company safety policy, contract safety requirements, as well as state and federal requirements.
- Conduct accident investigations, studies, and recommendations for corrective actions needed.
- Develop, implement and conduct safety and health training programs.
- Conduct daily safety inspections onboard ship and in and around facility.
- Perform tests, calibrate and use test equipment, interpret test results, and ability to inspect, test, and evaluate spaces. Must be able to determine the need for further evaluation by a Certified Marine Chemist.
- Physical requirements include but are not limited to squat, stand, climb ladders, enter and exit confined spaces/tanks & voids and walk long distances that encompass large vessels and shipyard.
Requirements:
- Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience working in a Safety principled role. Shipyard and Ship Repair work environment a plus. Or the equivalent combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.
- Knowledge of Vessel Structure, location and spaces a plus.
- Knowledge of current OSHA Standards.
- Basic computer skills.
- Have or obtain Shipyard Competent Person Certification.
