Technical Manager-Marine Vetting & Assurance
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, the Dry Bulk Centre of Excellence, who is seeking a Technical Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced professional with a proven track record in operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
As the Technical Manager, you will be the go-to technical expert for DBCE subscribers, leading efforts to improve safety, health, and environmental standards. You’ll oversee the accreditation of auditors, drive the development of best practices across the dry bulk sector, and ensure the continuous improvement of the Dry Bulk Management Standard (DryBMS) platform.
You will also engage with key industry stakeholders, lead training initiatives, and maintain relationships with third-party verification bodies to ensure standards are met and continuously enhanced. This role offers the chance to shape industry best practices and make a tangible impact on the dry bulk industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for DBCE subscribers, resolving technical queries and ensuring the ongoing development of the DryBMS platform.
- Lead the accreditation process for auditors and manage the development of training programmes for verification audits.
- Drive the implementation of best practices and safety improvements across the industry.
- Regularly review and update the DryBMS question set to reflect current legislative changes and industry trends.
- Manage relationships with industry bodies, third-party verifiers, and stakeholders to promote alignment and industry-wide improvements.
- Develop and deliver training webinars, seminars, and publications to support the DryBMS process and educate the wider maritime industry.
What We’re Looking For:
- A Master’s licence or Chief Engineer Officer’s licence for vessels of 3000 gross tonnage or 3000kW or more.
- Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA) Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001:2015), or equivalent certification.
- ISM Lead Auditor certification.
- Strong knowledge of marine management systems (ISM Code, TMSA, IMO and ISO standards).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage across multiple stakeholders.
