Marine Technician
Position Overview:
A growing marine services organization is seeking a hands-on Marine Technician to support and manage technical services across a fleet of vessels and related marine equipment. This role is responsible for maintaining operational readiness, coordinating repairs and maintenance, and supporting day-to-day technical needs to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations. The position is based in the Tampa area and will work closely with operations, port engineers, and vessel crews.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee routine and corrective maintenance for marine equipment, engines, and onboard systems

Coordinate repairs, troubleshooting, and technical service activities across assigned vessels

Serve as a technical resource to vessel crews and operations personnel

Schedule and monitor preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure reliability

Liaise with vendors, shipyards, and service providers for parts, repairs, and technical support

Assist with inspections, audits, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements

Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and parts inventory tracking

Support mobilization/demobilization of vessels and equipment as needed

Provide on-site technical support in port and occasionally onboard vessels
Qualifications:

3–7+ years of experience in marine maintenance, vessel engineering support, or technical services

Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and marine auxiliary equipment

Experience supporting tugboats, workboats, barges, or similar commercial vessels preferred

Ability to diagnose mechanical and technical issues and implement effective solutions

Familiarity with vendor coordination, parts sourcing, and maintenance planning

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred Experience:

Previous experience in a marine technician, assistant port engineer, or fleet maintenance support role

Knowledge of USCG and marine safety compliance standards

Experience working with shipyards and third-party service providers
