Jack Mylott
PartnerJack Mylott spent over two decades running P&L operations in global shipping before he ever managed a search — and that's the lens he brings to every executive search.
Jack is a founder of Flagship Management, an executive search firm built specifically for the maritime and shipping sectors. He works with global shipping companies, vessel owners, offshore operators, port and terminal operators, cruise lines, shipbuilders and shipyards, commodity trading firms, marine P&I insurers, marine engine OEMs, maritime technology firms, port authorities, and energy leaders — placing the C-suite, board members, executives, commercial leaders, operational specialists, and technical directors who move these organizations forward.
Jack held full P&L and general management authority across three organizations before Flagship — running international liner, NVOCC, and bulk shipping operations across 40+ countries, leading business units through acquisitions, and building a freight forwarding company from start-up to acquisition. That operating background is why he evaluates leadership talent the way a P&L owner does, not the way a résumé screener does — clients tell us that's the difference that matters most.
Jack's work focuses on:
- Leadership roles – C-suite - CEO/COO/CFO, Executive leadership, commercial leaders, technical directors and board-level searches for shipping, offshore, and maritime companies
- Commercial leadership, operational specialists, and technical directors across the full spectrum of the maritime industry
- Confidential succession, leadership transition planning, and retained search
- Cross-border talent strategy — Flagship operates from the U.S. and Ireland, giving clients global reach – with placements made in 65+ countries
Outside of Flagship, we’ve served as national title sponsor of the Flagship Management Blue & Gray Golf Classics, helping to raise more than $3 million for U.S. Merchant Marine Academy athletics. We’re also national title sponsors for Maine Maritime Annual Mariner Classic Golf Tournaments.
Jack is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and earned a M.B.A. from St. John’s University. He has served as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve, and as a licensed deck officer.
Jack is proud of his Irish-American heritage and actively contributes through cultural and community initiatives. He volunteers as a bagpiper with honor guards and several pipe bands, and has volunteered for decades as a youth sports coach and association leader.
