Technical Manager

Role Overview

The Technical Manager supports vessels that require advanced technical oversight and hands-on project leadership. This role is responsible for safe, compliant, and cost-effective vessel operations, including maintenance planning, refits and yard periods, regulatory compliance, and owner and captain support. We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical expertise, confident project leadership, and polished, owner-facing professionalism to strengthen and grow our fleet support team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical management for assigned vessels, including maintenance planning, defect resolution, and lifecycle oversight
  • Ensure compliance with flag, class, insurer, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as technical lead for refits, yard periods, upgrades, and major projects
  • Develop scopes of work, manage RFPs, evaluate proposals, and oversee contractors
  • Provide cost forecasting, budget input, and technical risk assessments
  • Maintain detailed technical records and transparent owner reporting
  • Work closely with captains, engineers, vendors, shipyards, and surveyors
  • Support audits, surveys, certifications, and safety management processes

Qualifications

  • Significant experience as a Chief Engineer, Captain, Marine/Mechanical Engineer, Naval Architect, or within class/flag organizations is mandatory
  • Strong working knowledge of onboard systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, AVIT, hydraulics) is required
  • Proven experience managing refits, yard periods, and technical projects
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting and cost-efficiency strategies
  • Familiarity with IMO regulations (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Excellent communication skills and owner-facing professionalism
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required
  • Operational familiarity with Florida and Caribbean cruising preferred
