Vessel Operator- Houston
Our client, a leading international shipping organization, is seeking an experienced Tanker Operator to join its Houston-based operations team. This is a high-impact role responsible for the day-to-day commercial and operational management of a fleet of tanker vessels.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in shoreside tanker operations, a proactive mindset, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full voyage execution for assigned tanker vessels (spot and/or time chartered)
- Act as primary point of contact between charterers, vessel masters, brokers, and internal stakeholders
- Manage voyage performance, scheduling, and operational optimization to maximize earnings and efficiency
- Monitor vessel positions, cargo operations, and port activities to ensure smooth execution
- Handle voyage instructions, nominations, and post-fixture follow-up
- Ensure compliance with charter party terms and proactively resolve operational issues
- Coordinate with technical, HSSEQ, and commercial teams to support safe and efficient operations
- Review and approve port costs, bunker consumption, and voyage expenses
- Maintain accurate operational records and reporting
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of shoreside tanker operations experience
- Strong knowledge of tanker charter parties
- Experience working with crude and/or product tankers
- Solid understanding of laytime, demurrage, and voyage economics
- Ability to manage multiple voyages simultaneously under tight timelines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Detail-oriented with a commercial mindset
