Policy and Planning Manager-Maritime
The Role
Our Client is seeking an experienced maritime professional to join their Navigation, Maritime and Consenting team in a senior role focused on navigation safety, policy, planning and regulation.
The successful candidate will combine strong maritime knowledge with technical, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills. They will provide expert advice on navigation safety, assess maritime projects, contribute to policy and strategy, and represent the organisation at national and international forums.
Key Responsibilities

Lead stakeholder engagement on navigation safety, planning, regulation and policy.

Assess maritime projects and developments from a safety of navigation perspective.

Represent Our Client at relevant national and international committees, working groups and industry forums.

Maintain awareness of developments in maritime safety, radio navigation and emerging navigation technologies.

Contribute to the development of future navigation safety services and organisational strategy.

Provide advice and analysis to senior leadership on maritime and navigation matters.
The Person
Our Client is looking for an experienced maritime professional with a strong background in shipping, navigation, maritime safety or a related field.
The successful candidate will have:

Strong knowledge of maritime safety systems, standards and international developments.

Technical understanding of navigation and radio navigation systems, including ship and shore-based technologies.

Experience working with regulators, maritime stakeholders, technical teams and international partners.

Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across operational, technical and strategic teams.

Strong organisational skills, sound judgement and personal accountability.
Qualifications
Ideally, candidates will hold a Master Mariner qualification or Naval Service equivalent, together with a relevant degree-level qualification.
However, Our Client will consider candidates with alternative qualifications where they can demonstrate significant relevant experience and expertise.
