We are seeking a leader to drive the business forward. Our client is a leading shipping line providing services connecting the UK, North Europe, and the Caribbean. This position offers a significant opportunity to lead a well-established company into new phases of growth and sustainability in the shipping industry.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record, an entrepreneurial drive, a hands-on style, and the ability to execute strategic decisions.

Opportunity:

• The Managing Director will drive the company’s strategy and expansion, including potential acquisitions.
• The role involves leading an executive team, a dedicated staff, and a network of agents
• Key responsibilities include:

• Working with the Board to align and implement the business strategy

• Leading the day to day and strategic operations

• Maintain a culture reflecting the corporate values

• Ensuring profitable growth and operational efficiency

• Overseeing financial controls and assessing market intelligence

• Representing the company to key stakeholders and customers

• Mentoring the team, fostering development, and maintaining strategic partnerships.

The Individual:

• Should bring an entrepreneurial approach, collaborative leadership, and strategic thinking to the role.
• Should be experienced in leading a shipping operation and be comfortable developing relationships with clients and vendors.
• Requirements include:

• Strong business development and transformation skills.

• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

• Experience in container shipping to niche markets

• Experience with tropical produce transportation is a plus

• Senior management experience with a focus on commercial rather than purely operational aspects.

• Knowledge of industry challenges including fleet renewal, regulations, and market expansion
