Port Captain – San Diego, CA
Our Client is looking for a Port Captain to ensure the vessels are safely crewed, operated, and maintained. We are looking for someone with tug/towing/dredging and project management experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Management position responsible to ensure vessel are crewed, operated and maintained in accordance with regulator requirement, company standards, and customer expectations.
- Implements standards procedures and guidelines for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound fleet.
- Ensures are vessel personnel comply with the regulatory training requirements.
- Assists in the development and adherence of the operation budgets.
- Assists with project management and allocation of resources to projects
- Supervises licensed and unlicensed personnel, and crew management development.
- Inspects vessels to ensure seaworthy condition and arranges for maintenance and repair activities to correct any deficiencies.
- Provide technical expertise for specialized jobs in the field.
- Direct supervision of union and non-union personnel.
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
- 5+ years of shoreside experience managing marine operations
- Time at sea on your license is a plus – on Tugs / Pushboats is a big plus
- Experience managing vessel M&R and HSE and SMS programs
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate assets and people.
