Port Engineer

Port Engineer – Tampa, FL
This position is responsible for the engineering management of a fleet of tugs and associated personnel.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The ideal candidate will be as comfortable contributing to strategy and managing administrative duties as they are with getting hands-on working with the other Port Engineers and crew members.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage port engineering and M&R policies
  • Manager vessel preventative maintenance program
  • Prepare scope of all yard periods and repair activities
  • Assist crews to prepare for audits, surveys, and inspections
  • Work with operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Manage vendor process – review quotes, selection, oversight
  • Supervise vessel engineers – including hiring and retention
  • On call to respond to engineering issues
Desired skills and experience:
  • Time at sea on a senior engineering license
  • 5+ years ashore managing a fleet of vessels
  • Experience with tugs and similar type vessels is a plus
  • University degree in relevant field is a plus
  • Familiarity with USCG, ABS, Bureau Veritas, AWO, OCIMF SIRE
  • Ability to lead, manage, and contribute to a team
  • Familiarity with EMDs, Caterpillar, MTU, Detroit, Markey, Intercon, Smatco equipment is a plus
