Job description:
Assist with providing direction of the day-to-day operations of all equipment and maintenance personnel for company’s vessels and equipment.
  • Provide inspections, technical preparation, supervision and budgeting of maintenance and repair activities, dry dock specifications and execution.
  • Oversee all necessary Flag State and Classification Society inspections aboard the ship with ship managers.
  • Conduct audits both in the office and aboard the ship, follow up on requested repairs and with audit recommendations, and maintain a constant focus on safety and quality
  • Assist with inspection and approval of repairs, oversee shipyard and third-party repairs from the start to final invoice approval
  • Review items and quantities on purchase orders in coordination with Purchasing, Equipment and Project guidelines and equipment budgets
  • Maintain office online technical share file organization and continuous updates
  • Assist in development and review of company technical operating budget
  • Review ship inspection reports, monthly manager reports and safety audit reports. Follow up with appropriate recommendations
  • Advise on technical issues for fleet operations.
  • Assist in preparation and review of technical specifications, detailed engineering proposals, contracting for dry-docks, new building specifications, and special projects.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of oil major vetting inspection schedule and defect list
  • Work closely with office team, operations and financials
  • Reports to VP of Operations
Background profile:
  • Degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture. Academy grad preferred.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for drydockings, ship inspections, etc
  • Must be authorized to work in US
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC Card
  • Flexible to adapt to changing schedules and priorities
  • Physically able to access confined spaces within a ship, climb ladders.
