About Nanny Cay Resort & Marina

Nanny Cay Resort & Marina is one of the British Virgin Islands’ leading waterfront destinations. Located on Tortola, the integrated property combines a 300-berth marina, full-service boatyard, ship chandlery, marine-service businesses, a 52-room hotel, waterfront restaurants and bars, a private beach and a freshwater pool. A major new phase of growth will add 112 marina slips and a new 150-ton travel lift, with completion targeted for 2027.

Position Overview

Nanny Cay Resort & Marina is seeking an accomplished Director of Marine Services to lead its marina, boatyard, ship chandlery and related marine-service operations. While the marina is well established, the successful candidate will bring strong, hands-on boatyard leadership and assume direct responsibility for the performance, safety, customer experience and commercial growth of the yard.

This role requires a proven marine operator who understands the complete boatyard workflow—from haul-out and blocking through subcontractor coordination, repair execution, storage, invoicing and launch. Experience with sailing and power catamarans is a strong priority. The successful candidate must understand the specific technical and operational requirements of multihulls and bring relationships within the catamaran ownership, charter, manufacturing and service communities.

The Director of Marine Services will maintain a high-performing existing operation while developing and executing a practical three-to-five-year plan to increase yard utilization, expand service revenue and strengthen Nanny Cay’s position as a leading Caribbean destination for catamaran service, commissioning, repair and refit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visible, hands-on leadership across the boatyard, marina, travel-lift operations, vessel storage and ship chandlery.

• Oversee vessel haul-outs and launches, lift scheduling, blocking, storage, safe vessel movement and the efficient flow of work through the yard.

• Manage subcontractors and marine-service providers, including work scopes, estimates, scheduling, yard access, safety, quality, timelines, invoicing and customer communication.

• Establish disciplined yard-planning and job-tracking processes that improve turnaround time, service consistency, capacity utilization and customer satisfaction.

• Develop Nanny Cay’s catamaran service proposition, drawing on practical knowledge of multihull hauling, blocking, saildrives, rigging, composite work, mechanical systems, warranty support and refit requirements.

• Build relationships with catamaran manufacturers, charter operators, brokers, captains, owners and service partners to generate commissioning, warranty, maintenance, repair and refit business.

• Drive commercial growth by increasing haul-out volume, storage, third-party service activity and revenue per vessel while protecting service quality and margins.

• Lead the ship chandlery operation, including product mix, inventory control, purchasing, supplier relationships, pricing, margins and alignment with customer demand.

• Maintain financial accountability through budgeting, forecasting, estimating, pricing, cost control, KPI reporting and regular analysis of yard and marina performance.

• Lead, coach and hold accountable employees and contractors while maintaining strong standards for safety, environmental compliance, workmanship and customer service.

• Maintain visible relationships with marina customers, yacht owners, captains, charter fleets and the wider BVI marine community.

• Ensure the established marina operation continues to deliver reliable occupancy, service and customer retention while the principal management focus remains on the boatyard.

Experience and Qualifications

• Substantial progressive leadership experience within a full-service boatyard, shipyard, yacht-service operation, charter fleet or integrated marina and boatyard.

• Demonstrated responsibility for haul-out operations, yard workflow, subcontractor management, repair or refit projects and customer delivery.

• Meaningful experience with sailing and/or power catamarans, supported by technical knowledge and a relevant industry network.

• Strong commercial and financial capability, including P&L responsibility, budgeting, estimating, pricing, margin management and revenue development.

• Experience managing marine retail, parts, inventory or chandlery operations is preferred.

• Visible, practical leadership style with the credibility to work effectively with customers, tradespeople, subcontractors and senior stakeholders.

• Experience in the Caribbean, another island market or an international marine environment is advantageous.

• Willingness and ability to relocate to Tortola and become an active member of the Nanny Cay and BVI marine community.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to lead one of the Caribbean’s most established marina and boatyard operations and materially shape its next phase of commercial growth. With 112 additional slips and a new 150-ton travel lift targeted for completion in 2027, the successful candidate will inherit a strong operating platform with meaningful new capacity and a compelling opportunity to make Nanny Cay the preferred regional service destination for the expanding catamaran market.

Location and Relocation
