General Manager – International Logistics

An established business is seeking an experienced leader to oversee an international logistics operation, strengthen team performance, and drive commercial growth.

This role combines operational leadership, customer development, and business management. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to lead day-to-day activities, establish clear priorities, and deliver measurable results while working closely with senior leadership.

We are seeking a hands-on leader who understands ocean transportation, builds accountable teams, and can translate business opportunities into profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations, ensuring reliable service, effective execution, and responsive customer support.

  • Set clear expectations for the team, develop talent, and establish accountability for performance.

  • Grow existing customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.

  • Manage carrier, vendor, and service-provider relationships to support competitive pricing and dependable delivery.

  • Improve workflows, operating procedures, and performance reporting.

  • Monitor revenue, costs, and margins, taking action to improve business performance.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation and compliance across ocean transportation activities.

  • Collaborate with other business units to expand service capabilities and customer opportunities.

  • Resolve operational and commercial issues independently, keeping senior leadership informed of material developments.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within an NVOCC, ocean freight forwarding, or international logistics business.

  • Strong understanding of ocean freight operations, carrier relationships, pricing, shipping documentation, and customer service.

  • Must meet Federal Maritime Commission requirements to serve as the Qualifying Individual for an NVOCC license, subject to FMC review and approval.

  • Proven ability to lead teams, improve operational performance, and develop business.

  • Commercial judgment and experience managing costs, margins, and operating results.

  • A decisive, accountable leadership style with the ability to work independently.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work from South Florida, must be currently authorized to work in the US, no visa or sponsorship
